Amarillo Museum of Art

Please join us for the Annual Alliance Membership Meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 19th at the Amarillo Museum of Art. Come see the Georgia O’Keeffe watercolors along with several other great prints, drawings, paintings and photographs in the Works on Paper Exhibition.

This year’s program will include a special talk by, Deana Craighead, AMoA Director of Public Programming. She is going to discuss All Things Education and show members how the Alliance support is crucial for the educational programming at AMoA. You will be amazed to hear about all of the services they provide throughout our community, and all with the help of generous Alliance members like you.

Dana Walton will also update members about the Education Lab Renovation. With the gifts the Alliance has provided the Museum, and the grant funding AMoA has secured, construction is set to begin in August. We couldn’t be more excited about the renovated labs and new “MakerSpace” scheduled to open in the Spring of 2019. The "MakerSpace" gallery will allow visitors of all ages and abilities to engage, examine, respond/interact to works of art from the Museum's Permanent Collection in new ways. This unique environment advocates the purpose of the AMoA Alliance, to raise funds to support and promote the educational programs and services of the Amarillo Museum of Art.

MAY 26 - JULY 29
The Works on Paper exhibition will include a variety of paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints from AMoA’s permanent collection, alongside a number of artworks on loan from area collections.  Highlights of the exhibition will include watercolors by Georgia O’Keeffe, John Marin, Andrew Wyeth, and Elaine de Kooning along with prints and drawing by a number of artists including Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Luis Jimenez. Paper has played a vital role in arguably every artist’s practice since its creation, and this exhibition will explore the many ways it is used as a foundation for a variety of artistic processes.
